What do people in the UK do in summer?
This is a very difficult question to answer since there is a vast array of activities to choose from, so July is the perfect time to explore Britain.
England
Make the most of the summer weather and head outside for one of England’s many music festivals -renowned around the globe for their creativity- in July, catering for all tastes & interests. Find below some hold in July that any music fan living should check out:
Camp Bestival – Latitude Festival – Lovebox – Secret Garden Party – Wireless festival
- Fix your eyes to the skies for breathtaking displays at the Sunderland International Air show; with its coast, heritage and culture there’s always something to see and do in Sunderland.
- Established in 2010, Penzance Literary Festival has grown into one of the UK’s favourite festivals for authors and visitors.
- Go to Wiltshire’s Charlton Park to celebrate the best in world music and dance at WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance).
- Enjoy delicious fresh seafood at Scarborough Seafest.
Northern Ireland
Did you know that much of the hit TV series Game of Thrones was filmed there?
- You can see amazing landscapes by taking the captivating coastal road to see the Giant’s Causeway, one of Europe’s most celebrated natural wonders.
- When it comes to city life, there are two cities which have lots to offer: the colourful capital Belfast and fun-filled Derry – nicknamed Legenderry by locals.
- Consider hitting a golf ball around a world-class golf course. There are plenty of options available.
- Hit the pub for a ‘trad’ music session, and also be in for some great craic (enjoyable conversation or fun with other people) on the emerald isle.
Wales
Now that summer is in full swing, the options for a great day out in Wales are many.
- Tafwyl Fair, this festival will bring a dazzling array of some of the biggest names in Welsh arts, culture & sports to Cardiff; along with an excellent street food area.
- Tenby Long Course weekend, Pembrokeshire plays host annually to one of the most difficult triathlons in Wales.
- Royal Welsh Show. Builth Wells comes to life every summer with the biggest agricultural show in GB. As well as showcasing the cream of Welsh livestock and the high quality food and drink produced in Wales, there will be a range of activities: forestry, horticulture, crafts, and countryside sports.
Scotland
Scotland events highlights for the month of July include:
- Outdoor concerts on the streets and all sorts of venues, with international artists performing in the longest-running jazz festival in the UK: The Edinburgh International Jazz & Blues Festival.
- Traditional and contemporary music feature in the Hebridean Celtic Festival, ceilidhs, childrens’ activities and workshops. A great time is guaranteed at this popular festival.
