¿Cuándo utilizamos “ask”?
“ASK” es un verbo que significa “hacer una pregunta o buscar una respuesta de alguien”:
– Can I ask you a question?
– He asked me what age I was.
– ‘How are you?’ she asked.
¿Cuándo utilizamos “ask” + to infinitive?
Podemos usar ASK + TO-INFINITIVE cuando necesitas solicitar algo:
– She asked to see Professor Fenton. (ask + to-infinitive)
– We asked the City Council to help us organise a sports day. (ask + object + to-infinitive).
¿Cuándo utilizamos “ask” + for?
“ASK FOR” significa que quieres que alguien te dé algo:
– I always ask for extra tomato sauce on my pizza.
– They asked their boss for more money, but he refused.
Algunas frases comunes con “ask”
ask who/what/where etc.: I asked him where he lived.
ask somebody something : We’ll have to ask someone the way to the station.
ask somebody if/whether: Go and ask Tom whether he’s coming tonight.
ask (somebody) about something: Visitors usually ask about the history of the castle.
ask around: I’ll ask around, see if I can find you a place to stay.
ask somebody out: Nico´s too scared to ask her out.
ask somebody in: Don’t leave them standing on the doorstep – ask them in!
